First Fridays at the Blue Door

First Fridays Downtown provides you with a special opportunity to come down to the heart of historic Springfield in the cool of the evening.  Enjoy a gourmet meal in one of the many fine restaurants, listen to some of the musicians who will be adding to the ambiance, and visit locally owned shops and galleries.  Be sure to allow extra time to visit The Blue Door Gallery.  Our 60 local artists/artisans have created an amazing variety of items—a selection that will take time to peruse.  We have everything from pickle pickers to painted silk, unique purses to quilted throws, handmade pottery to silver jewelry, floral creations to wooden wine stoppers, children’s clothing to fused glass candle holders,  carved stones to stained glass, magnets/magnet boards to collaged furniture, beautiful photographs to painted glassware, and don’t forget our selection of unique greeting cards.

In fact, it will take more than a single visit to see all that The Blue Door has to offer, so plan on coming down again.  We are open Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.  and will be open for all First Friday Downtown events—July 2, August 6, September 3, and October 1 until 8:00 p.m.  Many of our artists will be on hand to greet you, discuss their work, and take special orders.  We are looking forward to seeing you!

New Artists

The Blue Door has welcomed some fun and fabulous new artists in the past few months.  Now we want to welcome you to come to the Blue Door and see their wonderful wares.  If you haven’t been downtown for a Blue Door shopping trip since December, it is past time to visit us and see what’s new.

Pam Allen designs unique jewelry.  Her one-of-a-kind pieces are available in silver, brass, copper and 14K gold.  Pam has a special piece for every taste and every pocketbook.

Allison Wood creates magic with blown and fused glass.  Her work will provide a gift that anyone would love to display—you will want to buy two and keep one for yourself!

Kristen Gustafson can take your own design or your photo and turn it into a charm or an ornament.   You can have a special memento created by Kristen as a unique gift for that special person.  Kristen solders her own silver charms.

Linda Udey makes stained glass creations to add charm and color to a window, wall or doorway.  Her work comes in a variety of sizes to make a perfect fit for your home.

Kirby Drennan’s pottery is both beautiful and functional.   Kirby’s casseroles go from oven to table and add a special touch to that special dinner.  Kirby also makes canisters, pitchers, candlesticks and her own soy candles.  You will love her brilliant glazes.

Beth Parsons has elegant gemstone and silver jewelry.  If you want a very special piece of jewelry—as a gift, or for your own collection—you will want to include one of Beth’s pieces.

Peggy Keeshin hand turns serving forks and adds beaded handles.  You will have to have one of her olive of pickle forks; they are perfect for getting just one from the jar.  Her ring-holders, mirrors and tissue box covers will add a whimsical element to your bathroom or boudoir.

Amy Holtkamp enhances the Blue Door’s children’s collection with her original designs for little girls.  Amy makes hats, headbands, barrettes, dolls and doll clothing.  Your special little girl will look even more special in one of Amy’s creations.
